How to do a leg raises

Lift straight legs up and lower them slow — simple, honest lower-core work. The lowering half is where the magic is.

How to do it

  1. 1Lie flat, legs straight, hands by your sides
  2. 2Raise your legs up toward vertical
  3. 3Lower them slowly, stopping before your back arches
  4. 4Keep your lower back glued to the floor

Common mistakes

  • ×Lower back lifting as the legs come down
  • ×Dropping the legs fast instead of controlling them
  • ×Bending the knees to cheat the range
