How to do a crunch

CoreBodyweightBeginner

The classic. A short, controlled curl of your upper body — no need to sit all the way up to make your abs work.

How to do it

  1. 1Lie on your back, knees bent, feet flat
  2. 2Hands light behind your head or across your chest
  3. 3Curl your shoulders off the floor
  4. 4Lower slowly, don't flop back down

Common mistakes

  • ×Pulling your head forward with your hands
  • ×Using momentum to bounce up
  • ×Yanking your neck instead of curling your ribs down
