How to do a high plank

CoreBodyweightBeginner

A plank on your hands with straight arms — the position half the moves in the gym start from, and a solid core hold on its own.

How to do it

  1. 1Hands under your shoulders, arms straight
  2. 2Squeeze your legs and glutes so your body makes one straight line
  3. 3Look at the floor and breathe — don't let your hips sag or pike up

An easier way in

The high plank from your knees. Same position through the shoulders, easier to hold. Work with this version for as long as you like — when the full one feels within reach, give it a go.
